We continue to publish Ivan Franko's correspondence. Today –next five letters of 1894.

In the section "History of literature" published review "V. Peretz. On the characterization of public relations in Little Russia of the 17th century" (1904).
Views on the Cossacks, on Poland, on chivalrous virtues – as they are expressed in a father Starushich’s speech, these are the usual gentry views of that time.

New article on history of literature
In the section "History of literature" published review "N. K. Nikolsky. Materials for the history of ancient Russian spiritual writing" (1904).
The monuments published by him so far belong to southern, Ukrainian, or Lithuanian-Russian literature of the 13th – 15th centuries. And this makes the work of Mr. Nikolsky important for the historian of Ukrainian literature.

There is no end to my drama. The "Rowan" is still lying in censorship, and the "Teacher" – "Rus’ Conversation" has finally rewritten it and will submit it to censorship in the nearest days. (Mar 11 – 19, 1894. To M. P. Dragomanov)

In the section "History of literature" we publish article "Review of ukrainian Literature from the ancient times to the end of the 19th century" (1904).
Great literary figures – the sum of all previous development + own personality. That’s the case with Kotlyarevsky.

The promised earnings from the "People", which we counted, turned out to be quite problematic, and the magazine does not give any free time to earn somewhere on the side to replenish the monthly budget. (Feb 23, 1894. To M. P. Dragomanov)

New article on history of literature
In the section "History of literature" we publish article "From unpublished poems of Yuri Fedkovich" (1904).
The find is peculiarly characteristic of the history of our Ukrainophilism of the 1860s and of Fedkovich’s understanding of the movement then and of his own mission.

This is the prejudice of Prof. Brickner’s exclusivity to the Polish language brings him to completely false cultural and historical perspectives.

The work of Mr. Ptashitsky is a bibliographic index of Polish, Czech, Russian, Ukrainian and Serbian medieval tales.

New article on history of literature
In the section "History of literature" published review "V. V. Popov "The alphabet written in hops" (1903).
"The alphabet written in hops" was published by Mr. Popov from the only known manuscript that was once the property of V. Undolsky, and now lies in the Rumyantsev Museum in Moscow and was composed in the 17th century.

But I’m not very happy with the subscribers, because all the money goes to post expences, and the copy is for free. And again, to put an even higher price was shameful, 100 subscribers from Ukraine would be a ruin for magazine. (Dec 31, 1893, to M. P. Dragomanov)

In the section "History of literature" published review "A. I. Almazov. Medical prayers" (1903).
The work of Mr. Almazov is of undoubted value, because he closely used not only previous works on the history of Trebnik, but also attracted many Greek and Church Slavonic manuscripts.

New article on history of literature
In the section "History of literature" published preface to the book "Heine Henry. Journey to Harz" (1902).
Before issuing this, I compared the translation with the German original and provided an explanation for all the important places where Heine alludes to circumstances and persons of that time.

In the section "History of literature" published review «Dějiny slovanských apoštolů Cyrila a Methoda» (1902).
The book in the first line should serve as a textbook for university students as a very good introduction to the history of Slavic writing.
